The PC-98XL is a model released as part of the PC-9800 series. It's the successor to PC-98XA.

Hardware

Same as the PC-98XA, The PC-98XL was a high end workstation. It fixed the main problem the PC-98XA had; not being compatible with existing PC-9801.To do that, the PC-98XL had 2 operation modes: the "High-Res" mode, which was similar to the PC-98XA, and the "Normal" mode, which allowed for the usage of PC-9801 software.

While the PC-98XL's "Normal" mode is similar to the PC-9801 VX with more RAM, the "High-Res" mode has many difference: the 1120x750 higher resolution, and more RAM (only 640KB if the V30 is used as the processor, 1152KB otherwise).
