The Photo Reader (フォトリーダー) is a scanning peripheral for the PC Engine. It is designed for use with Artist Tool.
Hardware
The Photo Reader is designed as an attachment to the Print Booster, therefore requires a Print Booster in order to be used with the PC Engine. It connects to a port on the top of the Print Booster unit, while the accessory itself is inserted where a pen would normally go on the printer.
Once connected to the Print Booster, the Photo Reader can then be used with Artist Tool to scan images placed into the printer. To scan images, the user must use the program to specify the location of the image on the paper, and where on the screen to display the scanned image. The Photo Reader's scanning resolution is unknown, and the scanning process is very slow, taking at least one hour to fully scan an image. Once the image has been scanned, the user can edit the scanned image and print it off.
