Special select room

Play the single player game and get a high score of at least 300 points, then reset (HOLD  RUN  SELECT ). Without pressing any buttons, wait for the demo to play and let it play out fully. When the title screen reappears, hold +++ SELECT  before the menu appears, then press  RUN  while keeping the other buttons held down. When the intro cutscene appears, press and hold  RUN , and the screen above should appear[1].

This screen features a level select and a power-up toggle. Use and to select an option, to increment a value, and to decrement a value. To start the game, press  RUN .

Sound test

Enter "BOMSOUND" as a password. The game will register it as an invalid password. Next, enter any valid password and the sound test will appear[1]. Press and to change the sound number, and press  RUN  to play the sound. To exit, reset the system.

Hidden items

Special bonus items that award points will appear in a random location on the map if the player meets certain conditions in any stage. Below are the hidden items and their respective requirements[2]:

Black Bomberman skidding to a halt. This would be used in the Amiga and Atari ST versions to segue between his running and begging animations[3].

Audio

Audio Description
Sound ID 2D. A slower version of the Game Over theme that loops[3].
Sound ID 36. Later used as the boss music for Super Bomberman 3[3].
Sound ID 37. Later used as the final boss music for Super Bomberman 3[3].
Sound ID 38. A remix of the title screen music from Bomberman on the NES[3].
Sound ID 39. An alternate death theme[3].
