Cheat mode

On the title screen, press HOLD ↘+Ⅰ+ SELECT  RUN . This will enable additional cheats on the character select screen by pressing Ⅱ while highlighting certain characters, then selecting any character with Ⅰ, and multiple cheats can be enabled simultaneously. The cheats are as follows:

Change screen modes

Highlight Eric and press Ⅱ to cycle between screen modes in the following order: normal, four screens, monochrome, four screen monochrome.

Sound test

Highlight Emily and press Ⅱ to cycle through different songs.

No music

Highlight Jeronnimo and press Ⅱ to disable music during gameplay.

Stage select

Highlight Jason and press Ⅱ a number of times equal to the desired stage minus one (e.g. press Ⅱ three times to start from stage 4).

No collisions

Highlight Mark and press Ⅱ. This will make it impossible to crash into obstacles or other racers.

Always advance

Highlight Lucy and press Ⅱ. This will allow the player to advance to the next race even if they don't finish in the top 3.

Continue

After getting a Game Over, wait for the title screen to appear, then press HOLD Ⅰ RUN  to continue from the last stage reached with the same character.
