The AMD-98 is a "sound board" for the PC-9800 series computers. It was released by System Sacom in 1986 as the first board of its kind, with a number of PC-9800 series titles supporting it in the years which followed.
Despite its name is has nothing to do with the company AMD which has been creating computer hardware (including PC cards) since 1969.
