View System Card error screens

Highlight any Super/Arcade CD-ROM² game, hold  SELECT  and start the game. This will boot the game as if the wrong System Card was inserted into the system, displaying that game's unique error screen (or in the case of Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo, its joke mini-game Akumajyo Dracula Peke).

Play "near arcade" versions

Highlight Gradius, Salamander or Fantasy Zone, hold  SELECT  and start the game. This will boot "near arcade" versions that arrange the games to be closer to their arcade originals (such as adding the "warming up now" screen to Gradius or changing the colours and sounds in Fantasy Zone to be more accurate to the System 16 version).

Play Tokimeki Memorial mini-games

Highlight Tokimeki Memorial and press  SELECT  more than once. A sound effect will play for the second and third presses to confirm correct entry. Afterwards, press  RUN  or to start the corresponding mini-game. Two presses of  SELECT  will start Force Gear, while three presses of  SELECT  will start TwinBee.

As Tokimeki Memorial is not included on the TurboGrafx-16 mini or PC Engine Core Grafx mini, these hidden mini-games are accessed with the same method through Salamander instead.
