Gameplay
The objective of Klax is to catch the tiles that roll end-over-end along the conveyor belt with the paddle, then stack them in the "bin" below to line up three of the same color vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Doing so will clear the tiles from the bin, which is called a "KLAX", and score points. Lining up four or five in a row counts as 2 KLAXs and 3 KLAXs respectively. Flashing tiles are known as "wild tiles" and count as any color.
The player moves the paddle with ← and →, and after catching tiles with the paddle, they must place the topmost where they want in the bin by pressing Ⅰ in the PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16 versions. To send the topmost tile back to the conveyor belt, the player can press ↑. To speed up the descent of the tiles, the player can press ↓. The paddle can carry up to five tiles at a time.
