The TK-85 is the last hobbyist microcomputer released by NEC in 1980.

Hardware

The TK-85 has the same general build as a TK-80/E: a circuit board with eight seven segment VFD displays and twenty-five keys.

The main difference between the TK-85 and its predecessors is its expanded RAM and ROM out of the box, and its CPU; the TK-85 uses a μPD8085 chip instead of a μPD8080 chip.

Technical Specifications

  • Main processor: μPD8085AC clocked at 2.5MHz
  • RAM: 1K
  • ROM: 2K
  • Floppy Disk drive(s): None
