Doom II: Hell on Earth (in Japan either as ＤＯＯＭ ＩＩ or as ドゥーム ＩＩ) is a first person shooter developed by id Software and released on September 30, 1994 for DOS-based IBM PC compatibles. It was later ported to a wide variety of platforms.
The game is a continuation of Doom, including all the enemies and weapons from that game with some additions, along with a new 32-level set of levels to play through.
Ports of Doom II to the NEC PC-98 architecture were programmed by Infinity Co., Ltd. Though based on Intel processors like the IBM PC, the PC-98 series featured a custom bus and different video hardware which made it binary incompatible with most PC software. Versions of Doom II for this architecture were released on 3.5" floppy disk and CD-ROM.
