This short article is in need of work. You can help NEC Retro by adding to it.

Golden Axe (ゴールデンアックス) is a beat-'em-up developed by Sega and released in 1989 for Sega System 16 arcade hardware. The game saw a number of home console and computer ports, including a CD-ROM² port produced by Telenet Japan.

Compared to other ports of Sega's arcade games released to NEC systems, Golden Axe shows very poor production values. It lacks a multiplayer mode, has terrible hit detection, less enemies and the sound effects are supplied by the PC Engine instead of the CD-ROM² add-on.
