46 Okunen Monogatari: The Shinka Ron (46億年物語 -THE 進化論) is an RPG for the PC-9801 VM. Rather than leveling up, the player evolves, starting as a fish and ending up as a humanoid.

History

Legacy

A sequel to 46 Okunen Monogatari: The Shinka Ron, titled 46 Okunen Monogatari: Harukanaru Eden e, was produced for the Super Famicom in 1992. This sequel would be localised for the Super NES as E.V.O.: Search for Eden the following year.

In December 2016 an English translation patch of the game was released by a group known as 46 OkuMen, allowing the game to be played in English. This patch also localises the game's title as E.V.O.: The Theory of Evolution.
