Knight Rider Special (ナイトライダースペシャル) is a action oriented racing based on the 1980s Knight Rider TV series. The gameplay resembles S.C.I., though the close release dates indicate that it's likely that both developers had similar ideas on how to add weapons to Chase HQ rather than one directly copying the other. Knight Rider Special has a jump button, though if the player is not fast enough for a jump, it will act as an accelerator until that speed is reached. Since jumping uses the I button that's usually used for the accelerator in driving games on this platform, new players often mistake its function and have a hard time figuring out why the car suddenly jumps into the air. The player gains new items that KITT can be equipped with after every level, and the game supports saving should the player have the hardware to do so.
