Bikkuriman World (ビックリマンワールド) is a side-scrolling action game originally developed as the Sega-published arcade game, Wonder Boy in Monster Land by Westone in 1987. As with the original Wonder Boy, Westone let Hudson Soft publish a Wonder Boy-less version of it. The big difference is that Westone actually developed this one. This time it was for the PC Engine, retitled and themed around the anime Bikkuriman, which had begun to air in October. Bikkuriman World is one of two launch titles for the console, the other being Shanghai.
This game is entirely unrelated to Bikkuriman World: Gekitou Sei Senshi for the Family Computer, also published by Hudson Soft.
