High score cheats
Play through Story Mode and get a high score of at least 40,010 points, then enter either ".SD", ".LK" or ".AS" as initials. This will enable the following cheats at the character select screen for Story Mode, though keep in mind that the selection timer will still decrease when accessing these cheats:
Haow-Ken mode
Hold SELECT and press ↑ or ↓ to toggle Haow-Ken.
Increase life and spirit bars
Hold RUN and press ↑ and ↓ to increase the size of the life and spirit bar respectively (up to a maximum of +4).
Stage select
Hold Ⅱ and press ↑ and ↓ to choose a starting stage.
Daikon Cut mini-game
Start the game without an Arcade Card inserted and let the System Card error message play out. When it finishes, perform a software reset (HOLD RUN SELECT ) and play out the error message again. Perform another software reset when it finishes, then let it play out a third time. A hidden mini-game, Daikon Cut, will begin a few seconds after the message finishes.
This is a slot machine mini-game based on the Bottle Cut bonus game where the player has to stop each reel with Ⅰ and line up pictures in order to cut the leaves off the daikon and increase their score, requiring one point to play. The amount of points scored depends on the matching pictures. If the player runs out of points, the mini-game ends and returns to the error message.
Test mode
On the CD-ROM² boot ROM screen, press RUN , then immediately hold SELECT + RUN for about 10 seconds when "JUST A MOMENT..." appears. Then, while still holding SELECT + RUN , press Ⅱ, then Ⅰ to start the game, then reset the system (HOLD RUN SELECT )) and check the backup RAM (press SELECT on the boot ROM screen).
If the code has been entered correctly, a file named "RYUKODEBUG" will have been created in the backup RAM. If there are any other save files for Ryuuko no Ken listed before it, delete them so that "RYUKODEBUG" will be at the top of the list. Start the game as normal, then immediately hold SELECT + RUN when "JUST A MOMENT..." appears to display a test menu with the following options[1]:
VS mode high score touroku (VSモードハイスコア登録)
Registers a new score on the ranking screen for VS Mode. The registered score is always one win count higher than a score previously on the table.
ST mode high score touroku (STモードハイスコア登録)
Registers a new score on the ranking screen for Story Mode. The registered score is always one point higher than a score previously on the table.
Keikoku gamen (警告画面)
Displays the error screen normally displayed if the game is started without an Arcade Card.
Subgame (サブゲーム)
Starts the Daikon Cut mini-game (see above).
Block jikkou (ブロック実行)
Allows the user to test the cutscenes, winning/losing screens and bonus games. The settings on the right can be adjusted, including difficulty, language, number of players, the player character and opponent.
Font check (フォントチェック)
A stage and sprite test. Select a character from the list to load that character's stage, and when the stage has loaded press ← or → to move the sprites, Ⅰ to cycle forward through sprites, Ⅱ to cycle backwards, and RUN to toggle facial injuries.
PSG test (PSGテスト)
Displays a sound test for PSG sound effects. Select a sound with the D-Pad and press Ⅰ to play it. Press Ⅱ to go back.
Block chou list (ブロック長リスト)
Lists the IDs of each of the program and data blocks. Press Ⅰ or Ⅱ to go back.
Pad check (パッドチェック)
Displays a controller test for both players. Hold Ⅰ for approximately 4.5 seconds to go back.
DIP switch settei (ディップスイッチ設定)
Allows the user to configure various DIP switches similar to the arcade version. To start the game with the DIP switch settings applied, press RUN then immediately release and press SELECT on this screen.
