This teeny-tiny article needs some work. You can help us by expanding it.

The Interface Unit is the official means of connecting a PC Engine-sized console to a CD-ROM² system, while also doubling up as a carrying case for the two machines.

At the time of release, the Interface Unit was required for those wishing to play CD-ROM² games, however was not initially bundled with the CD-ROM² add-on. This was later addressed by NEC, leading to this stand-alone Interface Unit package being withdrawn from sale.

The Interface Unit also includes composite output, giving a clearer image than that standard PC Engine's RF video.
